Used to be great but lost it's way a few years ago. Tried chicken egg foo young but had to throw half of it away - carry out. May try again but sit down and tell them to do it right! Also, as Dan B points out they don't seem to be very busy the times I've recently been there. Used to be when they were great it was always busy! That says a lot.

Would not recommend. I ordered the Mapo Tofu and vegetable fried rice for delivery. When I opened the container, it looked like the tofu chunks had been boiled in the sauce. I thought it might taste better than it looked, but I was wrong. It was swimming in soy sauce and inedible. The fried rice was mediocre. I called to complain and they only offered a "credit for my next visit". I chalk it up as a loss as I won't ever choose this restaraunt again. This was a horrible $21 experience.

Good family style chinese food in Winter Park. Not the best I've ever had by any means, but they give you a lot of food and offer a discount to Full Sail students. The staff is welcoming and willing to offer any help with the menu. The atmosphere is perhaps more authentic than the food, but it is Winter Park after all!

Disappointed all around. The food was just not good. I felt like a really good shrimp plate, so I ordered the 'four seasons'- but I would be surprised if it had even four seasonings in it...puns aside, this dish was flavorless and the brown sauce they had with the shrimp and veggies tasted bland and watery. My husband ordered their general tsao chicken. We've had better frozen meals than what they served him. The chicken was hard. The sauce was the only redeemer. A bit of spice a flavor there. We also the pork and shrimp dim sum...which weren't anything to write home about. We've had better around town. Funny enough, the two stars go to their fried chicken wings, which were delicious and flavorful. It is the only thing I would order from here again. Perhaps we'll give this place another try with different plates because the owners seemed nice enough. Definitely get their fried wings though if you are daring enough for a visit. Tasty and crisp.

They have a fairly new noodle bar. And also they're open to 1 PM now. Which is nice to have other options besides the typical at later hours. I had the Japanese steak undo noodles. Very good flavor on the steak seasoning and the noodles were big but light at the same time. My son at the Volcano spicy chicken noodles. He loved him and also I try to bite excellent flavor.

Too bad the regular cook just retired. They will have a tough time replacing him....disappointed.

Restaurant atmosphere is family friendly, instrumental music plays in the background and service was good. The preferred dishes included the seafood sizzling dish and the snow pea tips. The orange chicken was an average dish, nothing to come back for. The salt and pepper squid had a lot of flavor but could have been crispier, and the beef chow fun was missing the pan fried aroma. This restaurant is convenient to dine at if it's around the corner from your home.

My favorite place to go when I'm craving some Chinese food take out. I find that they do not over salt their food and offer a lot of healthy options. I have ordered from this place several times and always enjoy it. My favorite dish is the Szechuan beef and I order it spicy. I love all the veggies it comes with. The dish has a wonderful flavor and is a little bit spicy. I am glad that they offer small and large portions of a lot of items. The egg rolls and spring rolls are good. The pork shumai is amazing! I also enjoy the pork lo mein. The only dish I have tried so far that wasn't that great was the general tso chicken and I think it was because they use breast meat and it was a little on the dry and bland side for me. Overall, I really enjoy their food.

I grew up eating in various Chinese restaurants and China Garden is the best I've EVER had! I've been eating there since I was a student (over 10 years ago). They serve authentic Hong Kong style cuisine (just ask for the special "Authentic Chinese Menu"). I recommend the Kung Bo Gai Ding (Kung Pao Chicken) and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli (it's just the broccoli stalks cooked to be soft just like they do in China). I always recommend it to my friends but then watch as they miss out on experiencing ACTUAL CHINESE food by ordering General Tso's or Sesame chicken...those are AMERICAN dishes (they don't exist in China)! Please ask for actual Chinese dishes when you order to get an authentic experience.

This is the worst chinese food i have ever eaten in ny life! The tofu was cut thin and tasted like cardboard, the lo mein was tasteless spaghetti, the bourbon chicken was flavorless, and the fried rice had huge chunks of raw onion. I am so angry at myself for wasting $30 on this food! I will never ever go here again! On a side note: the woman on the phone was nice so atleast there was that.....

It was your average Chinese food. Good. But I wasn't jumping up and down. I defiantly would eat their food again but I wouldn't eat in. Id take out or deliver. It was so quiet it was almost uncomfortable not going to lie.

I should have taken my initial impression as a warning sign when I walked in and saw only one couple at a table and had to wait until the hostess was off the phone to be seated. I had been to China Garden probably about 6 years prior and couldn't remember anything particularly bad, but I also hadn't been back since. Still, I gave it another shot - and now I can say for sure why I won't go back. Being the only person in there has its perks - sort of. I had good service, but it was also quite awkward. I asked for the special authentic Chinese menu and found very few dishes to be different from their regular menu. I'm used to Ming's Bistro and Liam Garden with their less-often seen dishes of chicken feet and beef tripe - this was a disappointment, but I still had hopes for the special combination hot pot. I also ordered their appetizer sampler with teriyaki chicken skewers, crab rangoon, and steamed dumplings, plus an order of egg drop soup with wontons - all items I use to judge how much I like a Chinese place. The appetizer came out first with some of the driest, stringiest teriyaki chicken I've ever had. This must have been sitting out for a few hours. The dumplings were nothing special, and the rangoon were well cooked and full but had no flavor aside from cream cheese (and even that tasted a bit bitter). My hot pot came next, and lived up to its name in regards to temperature - nice presentation atop a sterno burner, it was still bubbling when I removed the lid. The rice bowl that came with it seemed like it had also been sitting around. The contents of the pot - chicken, shrimp, BBQ pork, scallops, tofu, pea pods, carrots, and baby bok choy - all had the same flavor: brown. It was a non-descript, salty brown sauce that had no flavor aside from a bit of soy. The only compliment I can give is that the veggies, scallops and chicken were cooked very well, everything else ended up overcooked. After I was chopsticks-deep into the hot pot, my soup finally came. I don't know if that's a thing for them - bringing the soup at the end - or what, but I figured at least if it came last, it'd be hot and fresh, right? Nope - luke-warm, nothing special on the broth and the wontons were gummy dough messes with a tiny bit of flavorless meat. I thought the soup was delayed because they were making it fresh, but this tasted like it was just scraped out of the bottom of the pot and served hastily because they forgot it. My total bill came to about $24 and while I did leave with enough hot pot to make another meal, it was because I purposefully didn't eat it all so I could bring it home and jazz it up. Sorry, but I'll be looking elsewhere for a good sit-down Chinese place in the area.

Dinner tonight was wonderful. We don't eat a lot of Chinese food usually because so many restaurants make it greasy, heavy and full of MSG. At China Garden everything was fresh tasting, flavorful, not heavy or greasy, and was all delicious! My husband raved about the Mongolian beef. Chicken with mixed veggies in white sauce and sesame chicken were also excellent ( both were made with white meat only, which I prefer). We ate in the restaurant and the staff and server were friendly and efficient. Prices were great too- For ten dollars I got a huge portion of sesame chicken with rice and egg roll ( you can choose your sides). The biggest mystery to me is why the restaurant was on the empty side for dinner, but I did notice the delivery guy and the takeout counter were pretty busy. We won't be going anywhere else for Chinese food!

Headed here for lunch with a few regulars. They've revamped their menu so it's a fixed price based on the courses. I didn't really get to peruse much as we were in a hurry and we were able to order off the menu, since we wanted tofu dishes. Orange tofu is great, get it if you are a veggie or a fan of tofu. Friends got it and I was afraid it would be too sweet. I tried Kung Pao Tofu, meh and a bit salty. Good spice, which I asked for. Fresh veggies. Brown rice is available. Good service and a great deal for lunch!!

If you wish to use a AMEX to pay your bill then you will need to look elsewhere to eat, they don't take AMEX. The service was nice, but the food was not anything special. Apparently they have a limited menu for lunch versus dinner. The food was fairly heavy and maybe their dinner service is better, will need to go bath there during dinner to find out. The problem is the limited lunch menu limits your choices to a few items so if you like to not be bound by limited choice go there during dinner.

One of their special dishes is the Four seasons dish, which has barbequeue pork, chicken, shrimp, and beef. Not a bad dish, well prepared. But, to be honest, a little bland. Next, we had the chicken cashew. Pretty straight forward dish- tasted, well, bland. Now, how can you make a chicken cashew without tasting the cashews? My best guess is that these folks, to be far healthier, aren't using as much MSG as the next place. For an appetizer, we did the Pork Shu Mai- it has the most meat in it of any shu mai I've ever had. Tasty too. The service was fine, the restaurant is making a big effort to blend the parent's traditional chinese restaurant look with the offspring's modern leanings- thus, you have large, colorful posters showing food choices, and free wifi for customers. Overall, I think I'll try it again, but ask them to spice it up a bit. (don't ever try to improve the flavor of Chinese food with Soy sauce, by the way. You just get soy sauce flavored food....)

I used to frequent this restaurant back during 2004-2005. This place is great. I just went back today and this place is STILL good! I'm a fan of their sesame chicken and lemon chicken especially, but i also get the "something chicken" which is basically their version of a Thai Pra Ram (chicken with peanut sauce) and it is delicious! China Garden has a quieter atmosphere, the prices are very fair, and they have pretty good customer service. I'm a fan. :)

On this occasion, I visit China Garden with an old friend. She chooses the Pi Pa Tofu, a vegetarian tofu dish made with eggs and turnip slivers on a bed of broccoli with a sweet sauce to flavor. The pi pa tofu has a complex texture, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and was delicious. I order the beef brisket hot pot, made with chinese cabbage and chunks of beef in a chinese gravy served steaming on a clay pot over a fire. The beef was tender and succulent, a great complement to the white jasmine rice. check out the review on my blogo tastychomps.blogspot.com

I been to this place a couple of times and have enjoyed it every time. The food it self is good and the prices are reasonable and not expensive. The service is kid of bad they can take a while to serve u or ask u for your order and if u did not get something like u order it and u ask to take it back they will get mad at u but over all not a bad Chinese place to eat at.

This place has been around forever, I mean forever. The service is polite and efficient, and it is always, consistently good Chinese food. They were featuring a new dish, Hot & Spicy Chicken, which I had to try. I'm a sucker for all spicy foods. This was a great dish. If I were them, I would put it on the sign outside to try to get to a new audience.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
